Peterborough Ecology Park’s plant nursery is a small community nursery dedicated to the propagation of plants to enhance environmental health and sustainability. While our key focus is the production of plants native to the Peterborough region, we also offer a variety of non-native plants which feed wildlife such as butterflies and birds, withstand drought or produce food, seasonings or medicines for people. We avoid producing exotic plants which could be disruptive to natural areas (invasive exotics). Many of our plants are produced from seed wild-collected locally.
Plants are propagated in small quantities with the assistance of local volunteers. We do not ship, but sell plants exclusively from the Ecology Park site in Peterborough’s Beavermead Park.
Bulk orders can be placed at any time. Plant sales to the general public begin at our popular fundraising Spring Plant Sale, held annually on the Sunday of the May long weekend from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. After this time, plants can be purchased during regular market hours. Other supplies are also available seasonally. A 10% discount is available for Ecology Park members.
